Abstract The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) provides a standard method of encapsulating network-layer protocol information over point-to-point links. PPP also defines an extensible Link Control Protocol, and proposes a family of Network Control Protocols (NCPs) for establishing and configuring different network-layer protocols. The IPv6 Control Protocol (IPV6CP), which is an NCP for a PPP link, allows for the negotiation of desirable parameters for an IPv6 interface over PPP. This document defines the IPv6 datagram compression option that can be negotiated by a node on the link through the IPV6CP.

Performance Comparison of IPv4 and IPv6 using Windows XP and Windows 7 over Gigabit Ethernet LAN
ABSTRACT In this Research Paper, We have evaluated the performance of IPv4 and IPv6 using Windows XP and Windows 7. In this study TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) Throughput and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) Throughput have been compared for protocol IPv4 and IPv6. Experimental results showed that Windows XP provides better results for UDP Throughput than Windows7 & Windows7 can provide bette...
متن کاملCompression Format for IPv6 Datagrams over IEEE 802.15.4-Based Networks
This document updates RFC 4944, "Transmission of IPv6 Packets over IEEE 802.15.4 Networks". This document specifies an IPv6 header compression format for IPv6 packet delivery in Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPANs). The compression format relies on shared context to allow compression of arbitrary prefixes. How the information is maintained in that shared context is out of scope....

IPv6 is an Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched networks providing endto-end datagram transmission across multiple domains. IPv6 was formally described for the first time in the Request for Comments (RFC) 2460, published in December 1998. In addition to offering a larger addressing space, IPv6 also defines some features not present in the previous version of the protocol (IPv4). For exam...

متن کاملPerformance Analysis of a Header Compression Protocol: The ROHC Unidirectional Mode
The performance of IPv6 in the radio link can be improved using header compression algorithms. The 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) consortium in its technical specification has adopted the ROHC (RObust Header Compression) protocol of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard track for real-time applications using RTP/UDP/IPv6 and UDP/IPv6. This paper presents the analysis of...
